The Battle of the Border annual hockey tournament raises money for local organizations while bringing Olympic-calibre hockey to communities in EnCana’s operating areas.
EnCana matches monies raised through the tournament’s ticket, program, 50/50 and merchandise sales. In the first four years of the tournament, more than $350,000 has been raised to benefit minor hockey and family-related organizations in 18 communities in Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan.
In addition to the X-Treme Queen for a Day contest and a Meet Your Heroes event with the players, the Battle of the Border program includes an autograph session and school visits – all of which provide an opportunity to engage local youth in the tournament.
