The Oval X – Treme opened the scoring at 10:01 of the first period when # 27 Gina Kingsbury (2 Goals in tournament) was assisted by # 18 Gillian Ferrari and # 15 Caroline Ouellette. The US Selects would tie it up in the second period when # 22 Natalie Darwitz found the back of the net with helpers from # 13 Julie Chu and # 8 Caitlin Cahow at 9:57. The US Selects would jump into the lead with an unassisted goal by # 22 Natalie Darwitz (2 Goals in Tournament) at 15:57. The third period brought exciting back and forth action with both teams having great chances. The X – Treme would tie it up with 5:01 left in the game with a great shot from # 9 Cherie Piper assisted by # 18 Gillian Ferrari. The goalies # 33 Kendall Newell for the X – Treme and # 1 Meagan Van Beusekom played terrific to force overtime. With only 11.7 seconds left in overtime the X – Treme’s # 9 Cherie Piper (2 G, 1 A in tournament) found the back of the net with assists from # 11 Rebecca Russell and # 8 Carla MacLeod.

The first period was great back and forth continuous play with great chances for both teams.  Both goaltenders # 1 Amanda Tapp (X-Treme) and # 30 Chanda Gunn (US Selects) made terrific saves to keep the game tied at zero.  The Second period brought two goals for the Oval X-Treme the first by # 27 Gina Kingsbury from # 9 Cherie Piper at 16:57.  The second came at 12:42 when # 15 Caroline Ouellette received a pass from # 11 Rebecca Russell.  The flurry of action in the third period was matched by the excitement of the crowd.  The Oval X-Tremes # 5 Colleen Sostorics found the back of the net with a helper from # 7 Kaley Hall at 14:05 to make it three to nothing.  The US Selects would strike back sixteen seconds later when # 13 Julie Chu scored with an assist from # 14 Kerry Weiland at 13:49.  The US Selects had a late surge but were unable to beat player of the game for the Oval X-Treme’s Amanda Tapp.  The player of the game for the US Selects was Julie Chu.
